How to cook fresh broccoli

Before cooking rinse fresh broccoli under running water. Remove the bottom of the stem and leaves from the head. Then cut off the florets. If they are large, cut them into smaller pieces.

The stem of broccoli is also edible. Just peel it with a vegetable peeler and chop it into small pieces or strips.

You can steam, boil, roast, or fry broccoli.

Ready broccoli is easily pierced with a knife or fork, but it keeps its shape and does not fall apart. Overcooked it will become too soft and unappetizing, and change its color from bright green to olive.
