How to bake beets in the microwave

Place washed beets in a microwave-safe container putting the smallest in the center.

Cover the container and put it in the microwave for 10 minutes on maximum power (1,000 watts or more).

It`s probably the fastest way. But you`ll need some time to get a hang of it.

Do not peel the beets.

You don`t need to pierce or cut the beets and turn them from side to side during cooking.

Instead of a container, you can use a tightly tied baking bag.

Unlike boiling do not put cooked beets into cold water. Just let them cool down at room temperature.

The main challenge is the cooking time. It greatly depends on the size and quantity of the beets and the power of your microwave. So you`ll have to determine it by yourself. Start with one medium-sized beet for 6 minutes. Check its readiness – it should be easily pierced with a fork. If it`s not ready, put it in for another 2 minutes, then check again. A few tries with different-sized beets and soon you`ll get your cooking time.

The taste of microwaved beets is the same as boiled or baked, but you`ll cook them five times faster.
